Poomsae is a defined pattern of defense-and-attack motions. It is a set sequence of movements that consists of the various fundamental stances, blocks, punches and kicks.
From white belt, to yellow, green, blue, red, and finally black, Taekwondo athletes have to master Poomsae patterns to rank up the belts!

Kyorugi is a free-form fight between two people. Fighters kick to the head and trunk area. It is an exhaustive sports which includes stamina, concentration, form, strategy and countless hours of practice.

Gyeokpa is the art of breaking. The preferred object is commonly wooden boards of varying thicknesses, advanced students break several boards stacked one on top of the other. It is often performed in Taekwondo Demonstration Performance.

As part of the SMU Elections Fever, every club under SMU Sports Union must conduct Internal Elections once per year. The next batch of EXCO will be elected by the club members.
The outgoing EXCO is to present the Club’s achievements, initiatives, events and areas to improve (this list is not exhaustive) to the members, ensuring that the Club is aware of their current status and workings. Thereafter, the incoming EXCO will present future plans for the incoming year. Constitutional Amendments voting must be done on the day itself. Lastly it is also a night of appreciation towards the outgoing EXCO, Graduates and Coach.
A networking session between existing members and alumni of SMU Taekwondo Club. It would is beneficial for both the alumni and members to understand more about each other – members gaining valuable advice from the alumni, as well to create a sense of attachment to the club for the alumni.
Winter Training Camp allows members to pick up and practice Taekwondo technique in a focus and accelerated way such that they are better prepared when grading, competition and performance. The event would also serve as an exposure/ refresher for members on various forms in the Taekwondo syllabus that are not covered during normal day training.
Martial Mayhem allows SMU students to experience the various martial arts SMU has to offer in one convenient package. It will also serve as publicity for the organising clubs to attract new members. Martial Mayhem provides a safe environment for the SMU community to learn more about the 7 martial arts, and encourage them to join the clubs which best suit their abilities and interests.
The club showcase the essence of Taekwondo through a Demonstration Performance at school events (e.g Vivace and SMU Open House). In addition, there are the club exchanges with other SMU Sports Union Clubs and Universities Clubs to learn the best practices from one another.
